The layoff led to her starting a successful altruistic business as an entrepreneur. In 2008 Felecia launched a gourmet popsicle and ice cream company, Feverish Pops, dedicated to sustainability and innovation. She donated a portion of each popsicle sold to charity and used the funding to start youth entrepreneurship community programs.<\/p>\n<p>Felecia could have remained content savoring her sweet success, selling ice cream to big-name clients such as Google, Forever 21 and Vitamin Water, but she was compelled to take it a step further. \u201cWe all stand on the shoulders of giants,\u201d Felecia said. \u201cI would not be here today if it were not for those who poured their time and energy into me over the years.\u201d That attitude propelled Felecia from \u201cchief popsicle\u201d of Feverish to co-founder of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.codefevermiami.com\/\">Code Fever<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/blacktechweek.com\/\">BlackTech Week<\/a>, using funding from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knightfoundation.org\/\">Knight Foundation<\/a> to bring Miami\u2019s explosive tech start-up growth into communities of color.<\/p>\n<p>This bold vision made Hatcher the 2015 recipient of The Miami Foundation\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/3.139.175.126\/civic-leadership\/ruth-shack-leadership-award\/\">Ruth Shack Leadership Award<\/a>. As part of The Miami Foundation\u2019s mission to position emerging leaders for tackling the broader issues facing Miami-Dade County, the award recognizes leaders under the age of 40 who reflect ethical leadership, dedication and service to Greater Miami, much like the Foundation\u2019s president emeritus, Ruth Shack, for whom the award is named.<\/p>\n<p>Greater Miami\u2019s rising leadership landscape is filled with changemakers like Felecia. Vance Aloupis, <a href=\"http:\/\/3.139.175.126\/the-miami-foundation-and-philanthropy-miami-to-present-ruth-shack-leadership-award-to-childrens-advocate-vance-a-aloupis\/\">2016 Ruth Shack Award honoree<\/a>, is working to ensure a brighter future for Florida\u2019s children as CEO of <a href=\"http:\/\/childrensmovementflorida.org\/\">The Children\u2019s Movement of Florida<\/a>. Like Ruth did for human rights throughout her career, he has turned his passion into a crusade pushing for greater investment in early education and children.<\/p>\n<p>This passion for improving lives made his pivot from life as a lawyer to advocacy an easy choice.
