Foundation<\/strong><\/a> and the Community Recovery Fund, MUJER<\/strong><\/a> <\/span>has serve<\/span>d\u00a0<\/span>as a resource center for<\/span>\u00a0residents\u00a0<\/span>in\u00a0<\/span>s<\/span>outh Miami<\/span>–<\/span>Dade<\/span>\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>communities<\/span>. During the month of May, MUJER\u00a0<\/span>was\u00a0<\/span>\u201c<\/span>p<\/span>resente\u201d as<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>we led a variety of activities to raise awareness,\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>provide personal protective equipment<\/span>\u00a0(PPE)<\/span>\u00a0and<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>financial assistance to families who were hurt the most during the COVID-19 shutdown<\/span>s<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”26238″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_column_text]Farmworkers who live at their worksite were educated on why getting counted\u00a0<\/span>in the Census\u00a0<\/span>is important\u00a0<\/span>to get<\/span>ting<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>coronavirus recovery<\/span>\u00a0dollars<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in rural communities<\/span>\u00a0like ours<\/span>. These families pledged to complete their<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Census\u00a0<\/span>this year<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

MUJER aimed to assist undocumented family members who were\u00a0<\/span>not eligible for federal CARES Act relief<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>We searched for these families to offer our help\u00a0<\/span>with basic needs\u00a0<\/span>and got to meet\u00a0<\/span>Guadalupe and her children.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”26194″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Guadalupe<\/span>\u2019s family\u00a0<\/span>posed for this picture in May after receiving the news that her<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>family was\u00a0<\/span>approved for support from<\/span>\u00a0MUJER\u2019s Emergency Relief Fund. \u201cAs an undocumented single mother,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>I\u00a0<\/span>faced<\/span>\u00a0a challenging situation because I couldn\u2019t afford to pay my rent or food during the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>shutdown<\/span>,\u201d she shared.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u201c<\/span>I don\u2019t qualify for public benefits so I didn\u2019t know what I was going to do. My\u00a0<\/span>c<\/span>ase<\/span>\u00a0m<\/span>anager at MUJER called and helped me to apply for the fund and I was approved for $752<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in rental assistance and received a $500 gift card for groceries. What a blessing.<\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

MUJER remains committed to serving as a reputable resource center for our community. We<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>provide counseling and legal services to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. During<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>this time, we are engaging our community members through phone calls, therapy sessions,<\/span>\u00a0PPE<\/span>\u00a0distributions and Emergency Relief Fund\u00a0<\/span>as<\/span>sistance, among other services so that our<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>community knows\u00a0<\/span>we\u2019re<\/span>\u00a0here for them.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
