Haiti has a long history of standing by us in times of crisis and this moment is critically important to the large and vibrant Haitian diaspora who also call Miami home.\u00a0We have been in conversation with\u00a0many\u00a0Haitian leaders on the ground in Haiti and in Miami and\u00a0as you consider how you give in this\u00a0moment,\u00a0we\u00a0wanted to impart their wisdom and\u00a0recommend the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Value\u00a0the leadership of Haitian-led organizations<\/strong>\u00a0that have context and relationships at the center of this crisis. Help strengthen the Haitian diaspora in Miami who are responding\u00a0and\u00a0invest in those who are always focused on building a stronger, more prosperous Haiti.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cash and medical supplies<\/strong>\u00a0are\u00a0currently\u00a0the best ways to help. After similar crises, there is often excess of \u201cstuff,\u201d but not enough dollars to buy the local things that are\u00a0actually needed\u00a0by survivors. When possible, it is also valuable to allow organizations to purchase food\/necessities locally to invest in local businesses and sustain the local economy during a time of pain.\u00a0One critical, ongoing need is transportation costs for medical supplies, and of course, donations to organizations working on the ground.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Below is a growing list of organizations we encourage you to learn more about by visiting their linked websites and\u00a0consider supporting.\u00a0We trust their\u00a0leadership and\u00a0want to amplify their voices.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thank you for your generosity and for standing together yet again in a moment of need.<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/6&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row row_type=&#8221;row&#8221; use_row_as_full_screen_section=&#8221;no&#8221; type=&#8221;grid&#8221; angled_section=&#8221;no&#8221; text_align=&#8221;left&#8221; background_image_as_pattern=&#8221;without_pattern&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1701478713088{padding-top: 60px !important;padding-bottom: 60px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column][vc_column_text]\n<h2>Supporting Haitian-Led Organizations<\/h2>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=&#8221;black&#8221; border_width=&#8221;3&#8243;][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<a href=\"http:\/\/www.AyitiCommunityTrust.org\/EarthquakeReliefFund\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ayiti Community Trust (ACT)<\/a><br \/>\nAyiti Community Trust (ACT) is a community foundation for Ayiti (Haiti). Consistent with their mission, ACT has established an <strong>Earthquake Relief Fund<\/strong> that will support local Haitian-led relief efforts in Ayiti.\u00a0<em>Our Foundation has worked for many years with Ayiti Community Trust and a member of our team serves on their board of trustees.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fanm.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Family Action Network Movement (FANM)\u00a0<\/a><br \/>\nA Haitian-led advocacy and social service agency in Little Haiti, serving the needs of low-income families. They are currently collecting monetary donations for those in need in Haiti. <em>FANM is a long-time grant partner of our Foundation.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fanmsaj.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fanm\u00a0Saj<\/a><br \/>\nA\u00a0<strong>Haitian-led<\/strong>\u00a0organization providing healing and wellness services\u00a0for community members of the Haitian and African Diaspora. They are currently hosting rapid response virtual healing\u00a0sessions, and\u00a0are\u00a0accepting donations to assist in providing these services.\u00a0<em>Fanm\u00a0Saj is a recent grant partner of the Foundation through our Community Grants program.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalempowermentmission.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Global Empowerment Mission\u00a0(GEM)\u00a0<\/a><br \/>\nA Miami-based organization working around the world to respond to disasters. The group is already in the process of shipping\u00a0containers of\u00a0supplies, food, and medicine\u00a0to Haiti and was on the ground after the earthquake in 2010.\u00a0<em>GEM is a recent grant partner of our Foundation and we witnessed firsthand their\u00a0effectiveness\u00a0in responding to the Surfside tragedy.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hanaofflorida.org\/2021\/08\/2021-haiti-earthquake\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Haitian American Nurses Association\u00a0of Florida, Inc (HANA)<\/a><br \/>\nA\u00a0<strong>Haitian-led<\/strong>\u00a0membership organization providing\u00a0services to promote the health and welfare of Florida communities. The organization launched\u00a0their Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund to provide relief and support to affected communities in Haiti.\u00a0<em>HANA is a recent grant partner of the Foundation through our Community Grants program.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MandodoFdn\/?__cft__%5b0%5d=AZWKIfzP4VGh25SJBc8nbuiH5E7KoWDkWNx4XytbZ4hTe282Q_igMxWHxAvSfVxO7vRjN4meOmpBqiHkDJwyuWJKMoSYgcX6kmUxZUmQSSWe6RSlidFuE3wzFIQmZlB6IrV9Lx31OqpNolpyvX6flr7B&amp;__tn__=kK-R\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Man Dodo Humanitarian Foundation, Inc<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MandodoFdn\/?__cft__%5b0%5d=AZWKIfzP4VGh25SJBc8nbuiH5E7KoWDkWNx4XytbZ4hTe282Q_igMxWHxAvSfVxO7vRjN4meOmpBqiHkDJwyuWJKMoSYgcX6kmUxZUmQSSWe6RSlidFuE3wzFIQmZlB6IrV9Lx31OqpNolpyvX6flr7B&amp;__tn__=kK-R\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0<\/a><br \/>\nA\u00a0<strong>Haitian-led<\/strong>\u00a0organization\u00a0dedicated to providing social and economic support to\u00a0families in Southern Haiti. The organization is accepting relief donations to\u00a0be distributed immediately to partner organizations on the ground in Haiti.\u00a0<em>Man\u00a0Dodo has been connected to the Foundation for several years as a nonprofit participant in Give Miami Day.<\/em>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercycorps.org\/donate\/earthquake-haiti-give-now-support-communities-during-emergencies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mercy Corps<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercycorps.org\/donate\/earthquake-haiti-give-now-support-communities-during-emergencies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0<\/a><br \/>\nAn international relief organization that has been working on the ground with a staff of 70 in Haiti since the 2010 earthquake providing clean water, supplies, mental health support,\u00a0shelter,\u00a0and other relief.\u00a0<em>We partnered extensively with Mercy Corps in the wake of Hurricane Maria.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ona.salsalabs.org\/tpshaiticlinic\/index.html\">Office of New Americans of Miami-Dade (ONA)<\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Haitian-led<\/strong> Office of New Americans of Miami-Dade is hosting a monthly Temporary Protected Status (TPS) Clinic for Haitians, in partnership with several other local organizations including Catholic Legal Services, Family Action Network Movement (FANM), Americans for Immigrant Justice, American Immigration Lawyers Association &#8211; South Florida Chapter, HIAS, Sant La Haitian Neighborhood Center, and the Florida Immigrant Coalition. They are currently accepting donations and sponsorship for this effort. <em>ONA is a recent grant partner of the Foundation through our Community Grants program.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/portal.unitedwaymiami.org\/comm\/SinglePageRegPledge.jsp?SA=8806077&amp;SC=HaitiRelief\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Operation Helping Hands<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/portal.unitedwaymiami.org\/comm\/SinglePageRegPledge.jsp?SA=8806077&amp;SC=HaitiRelief\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0<\/a><br \/>\nUnited Way of Miami-Dade and Miami Herald\/el\u00a0Nuevo Herald, in partnership with\u00a0<strong>Haitian-led<\/strong>\u00a0Sant La Haitian Neighborhood Center, Univision, and Miami-Dade County\u00a0have activated their Operation Helping Hands Haiti Relief Effort\u00a0to provide support with short- and long-term needs of those in Haiti affected by the earthquake.\u00a0<em>The coalition behind Operation Helping Hands has extensive experience in post-disaster recovery and\u00a0is a regular\u00a0collaborator with The Miami Foundation.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.santla.org\/contribute\">Sant La Haitian Neighborhood Center<\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Haitian-led<\/strong> Sant La Haitian Neighborhood Center has launched a Konbit for TPS campaign to raise funds to assist Haitian migrants with Temporary Protected Status (TPS) application filing fees and offer application filing assistance free-of-charge. <em>Sant La is a long-time grant partner of our Foundation.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mthsmile.com\/haiti-earthquake-relief\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Smile Trust<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/mthsmile.com\/haiti-earthquake-relief\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0<\/a><br \/>\nA Miami-based organization working in partnership with other grassroots organizations and leaders within the Haitian community to collect monetary donations and medical supplies to support relief efforts on the ground in Haiti. <em>We have been working with The Smile Trust on various relief efforts across our community since Hurricane Irma.<\/em>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row full_width=&#8221;stretch_row&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1701478724623{padding-top: 60px !important;padding-bottom: 60px !important;background-color: #f5f5f5 !important;}&#8221;][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/6&#8243;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;36819&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; style=&#8221;vc_box_border&#8221; border_color=&#8221;white&#8221; css_animation=&#8221;top-to-bottom&#8221;][vc_column_text] Centering &amp; Supporting Haitian-Led Organizations In Haiti Relief This is a moment of great pain for our Haitian\u00a0community\u00a0and we know that our network wants to come together and help.
