Arts Access Miami
Arts and music are deeply woven into the cultural tapestry of Greater Miami, making our city a global hub for creativity. We believe that at the core of thriving communities lies access to consistent forms of creative self-expression, access to the arts, and access to arts education. The Miami Foundation wants every child in Greater Miami to have the benefits that arts education unlocks – an increased sense of self, empathy, confidence, improved academic performance, and readiness to take risks, dare, hope, and dream.
Today, in partnership with local nonprofit organizations and the Miami-Dade County Public School System, our commitment continues with an increased focus and investment in all arts education.
Arts Access Miami’s Core Initiatives
The artlook® Miami map is a county-wide, collective movement aimed at bringing the power of arts education to all youth in Miami. This initiative not only visualizes Miami’s current arts education landscape but also connects schools and arts organizations with each other, creating an even stronger arts ecosystem.
Our Arts Alliances, powered by Young Musicians Unite, work collaboratively to ensure every student in their school district has access to high-quality, accessible arts education. There are currently alliances in Miami Gardens and South Dade. Click here to learn more.
artlook® Miami
The artlook® Miami Map
The artlook® Miami map is an interactive, centralizing tool that empowers schools, nonprofit organizations, parents, and community members to explore and discover new arts opportunities, cultivate cross-sector partnerships, and unlock the arts assets within our community.
artlook® Miami’s purpose is to identify and visualize where students in Miami-Dade have access to arts education programming and where there are opportunities for more coordinated investment.
In coordination with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, more than 80 nonprofit organizations, and a growing coalition of local and regional partners, we’ve created an ever-growing tool by which schools and providers can ensure every student is able to access Greater Miami’s incredible arts education opportunities.
Nearly all M-DCPS schools provide visual arts and music education to students.

M-DCPS Schools have a diverse appetite for all arts disciplines.
There is a great opportunity for arts programs to diversify their art needs.

M-DCPS schools expressed a wide interest in programs across the arts education spectrum, including field trips, performance/ workshops, and professional development. Demand surpasses the number of programs available in all cases except for Out-of-school and Summer programs.

Through these partnerships and collaboration
between the Miami Gardens Music Alliance and M-DCPS, the Alliance has seen:

What Are the Benefits? artlook® Miami…

- Grant Programs: Mobilizing resources such as grants and other funding opportunities. Meet our 2023 Mini Grant Partners here.
- Mixers & Events: Organizing ecosystem gatherings, from observation opportunities to coffee meetups, for increased collaboration and connection.
- Professional Development: Offering professional development and capacity-building opportunities for organizations and leaders
Arts Access Catalyst Grants
The Catalyst Grant program aims to close gaps in arts education across our region, as highlighted from data in artlook® Miami. Through this grant, we want to foster stronger arts partnerships within the Miami-Dade County Public Schools ecosystem. Catalyst Grants are multi-year grants (up to $20,000 distributed over two years) for arts education programs, initiatives, and organizations in Miami-Dade. Grant funds are intended to address opportunities for strengthened arts partnerships between nonprofit organizations and Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
Please reach out to gosorio-godoy@miamifoundation.org for more information about participating in network opportunities.
