Mike is The Miami Foundation’s Vice President of Philanthropy. He leads a team of philanthropy professionals who inspire donors and community partners to get involved and generously support Greater Miami.
Mike has over 20 years of experience in nonprofit leadership and development. He started his philanthropy career with the American Cancer Society leading a regional comprehensive development team managing Relay for Life events, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events, and galas. As he gained experience and success, he took on the challenge of the Nationwide Director of Corporate Development position. From there, he joined the American Red Cross, and then Keep America Beautiful, where he was the national Chief Development Officer, supporting hundreds of affiliate chapters, as well as a national office.
Mike had the opportunity to join Democracy Works in 2019, a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to leveraging technology to increase voter turnout and battle misinformation. Here he played a key role in tripling the annual revenue, empowering the organization ahead of the 2020 election. Before joining The Miami Foundation Mike worked with Dayton Live, a regional performing arts organization, as their Chief Development Officer and leading their $25M capital campaign.
Mike earned is Bachelor’s degree from the University of Dayton, and when not working, spends his time exploring Miami with his husband, John.
