Marika is passionate about helping nonprofits use strategic communications to do good better.
As the daughter of a driven volunteer, she has a deep appreciation for the people who get the work done in communities: the advocates and organizers, the scientists searching for breakthrough solutions, the artists who help us see our world differently.
Marika told their stories for a dozen years as a journalist for the Miami Herald, where she was fortunate to be a part of two Pulitzer Prize-winning teams and to travel across the Americas. But she always wanted to do more, to work directly with the people creating change.
Today, Marika helps mid-sized nonprofits increase their impact through strategic communications. Her focus is on nonprofit communications strategy and planning. She works primarily as a Fractional Chief Communications Officer, providing executive-level nonprofit marketing expertise as organizations grow into filling a full-time position.
She has deep experience in building teams and processes, creating narratives that change minds, and targeting the right audiences with the right platforms, both digitally and in real life.
