Disaster Resilience: A Unified Effort to Prepare for Disasters, Together


When a disaster hits, we want every neighborhood in Miami to be able to spring into action and access resources immediately. The Disaster Resilience Fund is a unified and proactive approach that will support disaster preparedness and support equitable long-term recovery efforts.

The Miami Disaster Resilience Fund is a unified and proactive approach that will support nonprofits working to advance disaster preparedness, provide grants for relief efforts to frontline grassroots organizations in advance of a disaster and invest in long-term equitable recovery. The Fund is a permanent, revolving fund that aims to raise $20 million to deploy grants in the following ways.

Reports show that for every $1 invested in community disaster preparedness, $6 in community savings is produced. The Fund is a permanent, revolving fund that aims to raise $20 millionto deploy grants in the following ways:

Annual Preparedness Grants

Investments in the organizations working in the fields of equitable resilience-building, community education, and disaster preparedness. These grants create space for organizations to invest back in themselves, ensuring and expanding their ability to react nimbly in times of disaster.

Pre-Disaster Stabilization Grants

Reserve funds deployed to pre-approved frontline organizations before a disaster, making sure we can immediately react to any natural disaster or emergency.

Post-Disaster Recovery Grants
Post-Disaster Recovery Grants

Support for long-term, equitable disaster recovery. Reserve funding and capacity building support to ensure organizations are able to sustain their momentum after initial disaster interventions.
