Francis Afram-Gyening

Francis Afram-Gyening

Community Advisory Council Member
Camillus Health

Francis Afram-Gyening (jenning) is a senior healthcare executive with two decades of substantial industry experience. Afram-Gyening’s passion for overseeing large institutions with a personal touch is contagious and has strengthened and motivated the staff, patients, and community wherever he has been.

Afram-Gyening’s work has transformed multiple organizations, raising their profiles through streamlining operations and bringing in additional resources to exponentially expand their footprint. As the Chief Executive Officer of Camillus Health Concern, Inc. in Miami, Florida for nearly seven years, he sought and received nearly $10 million in government and philanthropic support for vital services and expansion.

In his previous role as the President & Chief Executive Officer of Care Alliance Health Center in Cleveland, Ohio, he oversaw great improvements in efficiency and a dramatic expansion of services and space, while maintaining a firm commitment to quality and patient-centered care. During his tenure, Care Alliance doubled its footprint in size, budget, and scope. It became one of the few homeless service provider organizations nationally recognized as a Level III Patient Centered Medical Home, the highest level of recognition. Integrating behavioral health service into primary care operations and launching a one-of-a-kind integrated mobile clinic were just two of his signature achievements.

Before coming to Care Alliance in 2007, Afram-Gyening served two Florida health care agencies in positions of increasing responsibility. He has maintained a strong commitment to education, both through continuing his own and serving as an adjunct faculty member. Afram-Gyening is a leader beyond his organization or a class of students, serving on various boards and committees in Greater Cleveland and nationally.

Afram-Gyening maintains multiple licensures, including a Fellow of American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO). He completed the Health Care Executive program at the University of California at Los Angeles/Johnson & Johnson. He holds a Master of Public Health degree from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health and a Master’s in Business Administration from Cleveland State University. His Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, magna cum laude, is from York College, the City University of New York.
